Vacation Bible School -- 2005

It's a firmly established tradition: the Northtown Vacation Bible School in June. Nominally for the kids (aged 2 through the 6th grade), the crowd (over 200 people each evening) includes almost as many teens and adults as kids.

The theme this year was the Old West, and there were the usual characters including The Professor, the Evangelator and Gospel Girl, a puppet show and a nightly visit from the Devil (who is banished with a Bible verse).

Presiding, as usual, are Bob and Penny Monroe, who organize this ministry.

Accounts of the 2003 VBS and the 2004 VBS are also online.

Teachers gather their classes . . .
The theme is the Old West, with a dramatic sketch each night.
A cast member talks to the kids.
The singing includes a new song: the "Old West" version of "I'm in the Lord's Army."
Elementary school kids enjoy refreshments. . .
. . . and wait their chance to run in a relay race.
Kids ask the Evangelator "why do you wear tights?" The answer: "all superheros wear tights."
Younger kids also enjoy refreshments. . .
. . . and sometimes, when in line, they all fall down!
A Bible sketch is always the centerpiece of VBS. . .
. . . offering an edifying lesson for the children.
On the last night, the show ends with the cast coming onstage and spraying the audience with silly string!
