Neighborhood Carnival

It was the second annual Northtown Neighborhood Carnival on Saturday, August 29! We were reaching out to our neighbors in our “backyard” as well as to friends as family. Kids had fun, and neighborhood families get school supplies to help with those back to school expenses. There were games, and face painting, and refreshments.

Youth Retreat

Now getting to be a yearly event, the youth head north to Belgium, Wisconsin, and camp out in the back yard of a couple who are part of the Northtown Youth Ministry. There are games, good food, Christian sharing, and (a short trip away) an outing at the beach.

Vacation Bible School

It was a big production as always -- Northtown’s Vacation Bible School. This year the theme was “Under the Sea,” with all the fun of previous editions of VBS: skits, songs, puppets, the crazy Professor and his time machine, the Evangelator and Gospel Girl. And of course, the Devil showed up, and was driven away with a verse of scripture and a Christian song.

You can see photos here.

Community Garden

A group of Northtowners took the lead in creating a community garden at the Maple Tree School, just a few blocks south of Northtown on 107th Street.

30 Hour Fast For Youth

Movie Night for Youth

High school students hung out at Travis’ apartment on February 13th for a movie night. They watched “The Dark Knight” from 6 until 9pm. Snacks were provided.

New Year’s Eve Lock-In

It’s become a tradition at Northtown: the New Year’s Lock-In. Yes, kids stay all night (although they may bring a sleeping bag and nap a bit) and enjoy games, activities, a Bible study and good Christian fellowship. Of course, some Northtown adults stay up all night too and act as chaperones.
