November Events

There were two special times of fellowship in November.
  • On Sunday, November 23rd, we had a Thanksgiving Service remembering all the gifts from God for which we are grateful.
  • The following week on November 30th, we shared a pot luck lunch together. These were both times to grow closer to each other in fellowship, and closer to our Heavenly Father “from whom all blessings flow.”

The youth group hosted a “Night Out” on Friday, Nov. 21 for the adults. They prepared and served dinner, provided entertainment, and even babysat younger children!

Friend Day

An old event with a new name – it’s the Friend Day (formerly known as Corn ‘n Brat Roast), on Sunday, September 14. It was another great time where FRAN’s had an informal time of fellowship and food and also got to know more about Northtown Church, and more importantly, about Jesus Christ, our savior. It rained, so most of the Northtowners and guests had to eat downstairs, but the food was as good as ever. It included the old favorites of roasted corn and grilled brats, as well as a wide variety of new foods to appeal to all tastes.

Youth Retreat 2008

August 8-9, youth from Northtown and another congregation went up north to camp out in tents, enjoy games and activities, Bible study and (finally) a trip to the beach.

The rain came before the prizes were given out, but not before the picnickers enjoyed the pies!

Women’s Prayer Circle

Christians often have a particular situation in their lives to pray about, perhaps joined by fellow Christians. Northtown Women shared these with other women in the church during the Women’s Prayer Circle from 8 AM to noon on Saturday, January 12 at the church building. They spent the whole morning praying together about whatever was on each woman’s heart -- although women were welcome to join in anytime during the morning. Afterwards, they had lunch together at Ruby Tuesday’s. Renee Russell organized the event.

In order to better understand each other and the various cultural backgrounds we all come from, Northtown had a special “Unity in Diversity” service on Sunday, January 20. This was in anticipation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday observance. Refreshments reflecting different cultures were served after services.
